THE MAGIC FLUTE

THE MAGIC FLUTE

In September at NIC’s Schuler Auditorium, the role of Tamino in “The Magic Flute” will be sung by two-time Grammy winner, Vale Rideout, whose many lead roles from Hawaii to Florence include the title role in Opera Coeur d’Alene’s highly praised “Faust” in 2011. Rideout frequently collaborates with Lorin Maazel in projects such as the world premiere of “The Inspector.”

Other cast for OCda’s production of the Mozart work will include Anne-Carolyn Bird, critically acclaimed in a University of Georgia production for the same Pamina role she will singing here. Her real life husband, Matt Burns will be Papageno here. According to Cleveland’s “Plain Dealer” he has a “cavernous voice and droll earthiness.” Both have many accolades including multiple reviews in “Washington Post” and “Opera News.”  Other singers will include Jeremy Milner, Dawn Wolski, and Jadd Davis. The famous “spielsing” or partially spoken opera will be performed in German, with Jay Buhny as speaker. A regionally-hired orchestra will be under the baton of Spokane Symphony’s Maestro Eckart Preu.  Be the first to get your tickets and pick the best seats in the house.
